It's time for the "history of sarcasm".
Who knows me, knows that I am without the slightest reverence and aspiration relate to the current state of psychology, psychotherapy and proper "psychologists", as a kind of collective image. If possible, gladly make fun of the strange ugliness of the "internal kitchen"... just because.
so, I'd like to begin with... a chance meeting with a customer (or former client) somewhere on the street. Here you may not know, but for many professionals in all seriousness choice is to just walk past or turn around and go the other way. Moreover, some (and not few) colleagues consider such a random meeting cause to go to confession "supervision".
Next on the agenda is of course appearance-oriented "cult of dullness". Yes, Yes, a huge number of experts deliberately "userauth" [so to speak] their appearance, their way. Why? And not to let any higher power, the client did not notice that it is not just a "specialist", but a living person with his taste in clothes and features of the figure, and on the basis of these observations, it would not have crept in at the customer "bad thoughts". the Degree of absurdity increases, but...
I Think this is all that can surprise you psychologists? Well, no... is another example. And this is one of the highlights of the "Holy, Holy, Holy-moments" for many colleagues, namely, session, conducted on-site customer, and not in his office, and, in principle, session anywhere except your office literally cause panic attacks and bouts of existential horror. Why? Interesting thing, the argument is utterly stupid... like, foreign territory disturbs the balance in the interaction, and the client wishes to appoint a meeting at home or somewhere else is definitely a game, a whim and resistance; simply put... all of it deprives the psychologist control and power [and where did it all come from... or he himself took...].
the First thing I think, when in all seriousness I hear/read this is the analogy with what the experts say to customers about opportunities to improve the quality of life: we need to develop emotional and behavioral flexibility and to become more adaptive to changing conditions, be more critical of ourselves and creative view to approach the challenges that arise in front of you.
sounds Like a hypocrisy, right? Client hear some ideas, by the way, extremely reasonable, but as it comes to himself. oops, it is impossible, it is impossible and does God forbid... so where is the flexibility, adaptability, creativity, critical towards themselves, behavioral diversity?
So here they are... psychologists; and professionalism, apparently, the thing is extremely unstable, and prone to run, because it evaporates with the change of work space, while providing more vibrant appearance, or even a casual meeting with clients. Right shy he's kind of... professionalism this.
Heavy in the overall share of psychologists... Oh, heavy... ).
!
