a twist of fate, one of the leading themes in my practice is help with panic attacks.
actual Theme:
- Strong men, which is difficult to realize that they can't handle themselves, that they may embrace the fear and panic, leaving them vulnerable.
- Women who run their own business, qualified responsible professionals, mothers of large families.
- Adolescents experiencing a transformation of consciousness and physical changes the body is forced to choose life strategy and to face the aggression of a society.
- it is possible to tell about the experiences of such people who have to withstand the pressure from the family and adherence to national traditions.
this article will be considered the situation of those people who, because of her strong character, trying to solve the problem of panic attacks by drinking alcohol. Not difficult to guess that this quickly develops into addiction.
When faced with this problem in my practice, I asked the supervisor a question – how to be effective in this situation?
the supervisor Igor Danilov was a leading trainer of IGI, Gestalt therapist, supervisor. His experience in therapeutic practice and reference groups 24. Igor was a talented master in Gestalt approach. Distinctive, worldly wise and kind, and helped to find those solutions that are not described in the books. His view of therapy and life in tune with mine and after he left, I use a lot in my practice.
Igor wrote little, and his method of working with alcohol dependence smartly helps and has the right to life.
Alcohol helps get away from the pain and suffering, change our minds, but sets another trap – dependence. After panic attack most people are so confused that don't know how to be, where to find support and how to solve the problem. In this situation, alcohol may seem like a quick and easy way to resolve the situation. But it only slightly dulls the unbearable feelings and later aggravates the mental condition of the person.
Method Igor gave me the opportunity to look at alcohol addiction with a completely new perspective and this brought my practice to a deeper level of cognition of the individuality, for which I am grateful!
it Turned out that the dependent person is addicted to a certain drink, which he associated with the deep needs of the personality: affection, security, a sense of warm spiritual fellowship, affiliation, friendship, and mentoring by more experienced, initiation, support,... Many are unable to understand their needs and find the right feeling. Accordingly, in working with the client, we explore its phenomenology and help him to find the need that has been lost for some reason and he tries to fill with alcohol.
Case study.
a Woman, a business lady whose life – stream of questions and problems to be solved independently, the incredible strain and fatigue, and her passion for champagne.
Researching this story, we found out that champagne gives her the feeling of a light, beautiful, magical and free life. After the therapeutic work we found her unconscious need, which is feeling the support of parents and husband. This would facilitate her life, would allow to distribute responsibilities and indulge your inner girl. After understanding their direct need the need for champagne has decreased, it has ceased to be a dependency.
In working with men are more common history, attachment to a strong drink. During the interview the client told that he was in a feeling of weakness and extreme fatigue is a new responsibility.
After a panic attack, his eyes fell on the alcohol with the name "chacha". In this study, attachment was able to clarify what "chacha" man returns to the pleasant memory of a time when he was warmly received by the father-in-law. In this situation, he received recognition from the older men with his wife's family, where he was received as a man you trust the most expensive – a daughter. Through this study, we found that the need for men feelings of warmth, acceptance, support, which he received from his father-in-law (at the time, father already passed away). The resource was to remember father-in-law and from time to time to remember what the customer had this experience in life. On this sensation and experience can not rely on frequent use. And the energy that was merged into the addiction, he was sent to effectiveness and implementation.
Here such interesting study of human individuality gave me the opportunity to understand the depths of the once terrible to me, the topic of "Alcohol dependence."
good Luck to all of us in solving the mysteries of our psyche!
