Obsessive thoughts and actions are a major symptom of obsessive compulsive personality disorder or obsessive-compulsive disorder.

In the daily life of a person suffering from obsessive thoughts and actions very few people understand. Surrounding sincerely wonder why he comes back the fifth time to check clearly closed door, while experiencing severe anxiety, late for work and disrupts their plans. Even more surprising is advanced version of action obsessive - compulsive rituals, when a person spends a lot of time and effort on a completely meaningless event. For example, building certain items in the house in him only the slave order in the bedtime. But, not to do so, go to sleep, he really can not.

Close friends try to reason with such a person. Show him that his actions have no meaning, and the depressing thoughts just need to get out of my head. But it's not working. Because for him, these actions have meaning, but deep and unconscious. Consciously he could not explain their motives, but if they're trying to give them up, then suffering severe anxiety. Obsessive thoughts are not amenable to his control, they continually swirling in his head, depriving the rest. At the same time, the more effort he exerts in order to recommend "throw them out of my head", the more they take possession of his consciousness.

obsessive-compulsive disorder there are two phases of – obsessive thoughts (obsessions) and compulsive actions (compulsive). Connects them and starts the development of psychological disorders deep pathological fear. This fear is irrational and they are long forgotten events of childhood.

At the level of consciousness of people that fear feels. He feels only anxiety of their obsessive thoughts and experiencing anxiety from not can stop senseless acts. In some cases, obsessions can purchase an anti-social character. Then to negative experiences is added the nagging feeling of guilt.

assuming the character of rituals, compulsive actions transform the everyday things in the ordeal. They begin to take more and more time and energy. That can lead to the misallocation of human resources. More and more energy is wasted, they just do not have the achievement of really important objectives. Obsessions are gradually replacing the true interests and the person loses the ability to get pleasure from life. He realizes that he has a problem, but nothing to do with it. This provoked a new wave of fears, particularly fears for their own health and fear of going crazy.

Symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder is very diverse. The main symptoms are Intrusive thoughts caused by anxiety and obsessive acts committed for the purpose to cope with this anxiety.

the most popular obsessions (Intrusive thoughts) are: fear of infection, fear of contamination, excessive superstition, a commitment to order or symmetry, fear to forget something or lose, fear for their own life and the lives of loved ones, thoughts of an aggressive or sexual nature, and more.

the Most common are compulsive (obsessive acts) as the obsessive handwashing, repeated checking of appliances when leaving the house, a pointless expense, cleaning the apartment, without objective necessity, to clean items out of fear of being infected, and so on.

Obsessive – compulsive disorder may be accompanied by physical symptoms, particularly sleep disorders, eating disorders, vertigo, fluctuations of arterial pressure, reduction of sexual desire.

From the point of view of psychoanalysis obsessive-compulsive disorder is a consequence of the conflict of love and hate. the Preconditions for its occurrence must be sought in the children's traumatic experiences. Typically it's some event that caused very intense emotions and fantasies that were perceived by the psyche as potentially dangerous and repressed into the unconscious. But they have not lost their power and continue to strive for implementation. This is prevented by the protective mechanisms of the psyche. The struggle between instinct and protection leads to a symptom. In the minds of these processes fall in the form of Intrusive thoughts, to cope with which help compulsive actions. However, the relief lasts very long and soon the cycle again we have to repeat. In the end, the protection of obsessive repetition itself becomes a source of fears and feelings.
