“Awareness — it is a form of experience, which approximately can be defined as being in contact with your own being, with what is ... conscious personality knows what she's doing as she does, knows she has a choice and she chooses to be as it is”.
Joyce F., Sills sh Gestalt therapy step by step: Skills in Gestalt therapy.
Why psychotherapy works? It increases your awareness of the person. And, voila - he has a choice to build a life the way he wants, not like him say friends from the bar and concerned mother. Or build it, as my mother says, but do it consciously.)
of Course, our mind is very wisely arranged, and the protection mechanisms are not invented for nothing. There are things to realize is not worth it, though, because we are not ready for them. But possessing a skill of awareness is a good sign of a healthy, Mature, and, as experience shows, happy person.
There are three zones of awareness - inner, centre and outer. Ideally, all three developed harmoniously in man, but it also happens that the prevailing one, and then begins: "I can't forget him, all my thoughts are about it, the better it gets." etc.
I will offer you three exercises, doing that you can train your awareness. Of course, this won't replace going to the psychologist, but back to reality, and in itself will help.
1 exercise for the inner zone of awareness, namely sensations of the body, organs, your whole bodily and emotional state. A good way to calm down and even fall asleep (but not for all, someone can irritate. If there was a traumatic bodily experience it is better to refrain from exercise).
conveniently Located and imagine that if you direct the spotlight on parts of your body - one stop, second, shins, knees, thighs, genitals, buttocks, pelvis, back, stomach, chest, shoulders, arms, collarbone, neck, head, lips, eyes, cheeks, ears, etc. do not forget to breathe calmly and deeply. For a more soothing effect make the exhale longer than the inhale. Spotlight is your attention. For each part of the body hold 10 seconds, do not rush yourself. The muscles in this part of the tense or relaxed? Feel warm or cold?
Listen to the sensations throughout the body, to the emotions that you arise, notice them, just let them be.
2 exercise triggers the second area of awareness that we use during contact with the outside world, all our senses is how we see, feel and understand the outside world. For example, we see all in bright colours or faded, we see only red cars on the roads, if they are going to buy a red car.
Second exercise: begin to direct the spotlight of their attention to the outside. You felt your body now, notice what kind of clothes that touches it will feel the surface on which you are the chair, sitting on the sofa, on which lie what you hear, smell feel see someone who is in front of you. As you see it, what it interesting to you?
Bias in this area of awareness is eternal - "What about me would people think?". Too much concentration on the external world and neglect your inner.
3 zone awareness is average. All of our thoughts, beliefs, memories, fantasies, opinions on things. This area processes information from internal and external areas, comprehends all the experience and on its basis forms the beliefs, thoughts. For example, I invited a guy out on a date, I felt a pleasant shiver through the body, anxiety, agitation (inner zone). On the date he smelled bad, he was verbally abusive and behaved very rudely (outer zone of awareness). I come home and draw the conclusion with which the proud, but lonely going through life - all men suck. (the middle zone of awareness).
How to work on it?
Pay attention to your thoughts about what is happening with you events, about people, about myself. For example, right now ask yourself the question "What I think about other exercises, how I feel about that?"
being Aware of your thoughts, beliefs, we may notice the ones that limit our reality and us. And changing them, sometimes we give ourselves a completely different perception of the world and themselves in it. And there already and to happiness in the neighborhood!)
